CALL FOR PROPOSALS

A THREE-PART CALL FOR PROPOSALS
For cultural and community organizations, amateur and professional artists, and Montrealers of all ages and origins

COMPONENT 1: Testimonials and seminars
a) Do you have a first-hand experience of immigration and would you like to share it with the general public? Would you like to tell us about what drove you to migrate and about your experience of integration? Perhaps you were born here and your family experienced migration at some point, and you would like to share your story?
b) Are you an expert on immigration-related issues, whether as a case worker, a researcher, a teacher or a policy maker? Does the “ages of life” theme resonate with you?
We'd like to hear what you have to say, within the framework of our series of seminars and testimonials titled Le cœur et la tête!

COMPONENT 2: Cooking and talking!
Do you enjoy cooking, and would you like to share some recipes from your country of origin, adapting them to locally available ingredients while discussing your integration experience?
We'd like to taste your dish and hear your story!

COMPONENT 3: Artistic performances, live art installations and visual arts
Did you have an artistic practice back in your country of origin? Are you part of a troupe or company here that promotes the artistic practices from another country? Are you an artist whose practice explores the experience of migration, uprooting and rerooting?
We'd like to see you express yourselves as part of our arts programming!

YOU HAVE UNTIL NOVEMBER 15, 2018 TO PRESENT YOUR PROJECTS!

Send us your proposals, indicating which component you are applying for and including a brief description of what you propose. For Component 3, technical and budget estimates, as well as corroborative images for your project, will be required at a later date.

THE ACHIEVEMENT OF SUCH A PROJECT STARTS WITH ITS FINANCING. WE NEED YOU TO SECURE THE SECOND EDITION OF CUISINE TA VILLE IN 2019!

CUISINE TA VILLE TO

POSITIONNATE HUMANITY AT THE CORE OF THE EVENT

PREVENT INTERACTION RATHER THAN LIFE IN SILO

CULTIVATE PEACE THROUGH CURIOSITY RATHER THAN FEAR

LIVE IN A CITY WHERE HUMANS KNOW AND UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER

Cuisine ta ville is a relational art project with communities that have fled oppression and now live in Montreal and its suburbs.

In the heart of the city, the staging immerses us in a universe that intermingles elements of the refugee camp, the journey of flight, the memory of the home left behind and the new one that extends a hospitable hand.

Some recent arrivals have successfully integrated, some people have just newly arrived, while others have yet to arrive... There are those here who reach out to welcome the new arrivals, with all the humanity and apprehension that entails. The project proposes a historical perspective; an assessment of the present and the issues related to integration within the host society; and a reflection on what to expect in light of the current international situation.

A Québec-style kitchen party, Le Temps d’une Soupe one-on-one conversations, conferences, testimonials, exhibitions and lively performances will enrich this essentially human experience, allowing us to understand, to forge ties and to get involved in the lives of people who were forced to leave their home in great haste, who have experienced unimaginable distress and uncertainty, and who now have hope of rebuilding their lives here.

The event is being concocted in collaboration with the Table de Concertation des organismes au service des personnes réfugiées et immigrantes (council of organizations serving refugees and immigrants) and Amnesty International Canada's Francophone Branch.
