Farine Orpheline
Farine Orpheline cherche Ailleurs Meilleuris a group of multidisciplinary creators who inhabit the urban fabric in order to shine light on the life therein, through artistic and social means.
During the 2004 edition of État d’Urgence, Farine Orpheline’s Télématon enabled passersby to freely and candidly express both their desires and concerns. This time around, those very words, those very cries, are reproduced so that they may fall upon our ears. The installation will be held under the Berri-side big top.
Jean-Jules Soucy
Jean-Jules Soucy works and lives in La Baie (in the Saguenay—Lac-St-Jean region) and practically never leaves it! Jean-Jules Soucy, self-proclaimed Thigh Master, will use his renowned bicycle to generate such energy that you’ll have to keep your distance from the stove so as not to roast! In this run-up to the Holidays, come watch as Art cooks up a storm, or at any rate, some chicken of the sea. Mr. Soucy waits for you: come pedal with him!
Pierre Bourgault
Pierre Bourgault, sculptor, recipient of the 2005 Monique Miville-Deschênes culture award, has an original take on the lives of rural folk. His works are an invitation to discover our own habitat, to examine its surroundings, to gain awareness of our most secret, most intimate spaces. He offers us an open space in the form of a boat, which, once completed, he will carry through the park. The part of the boat above-water will be as a skin composed of recycled, transparent containers.
People are asked to bring their containers and to take part in the construction by attaching them to the structure. He will then bring the boat back to the region he hails from, where it will be exhibited on the St-Jean–Port-Joli wharf next summer, and its voyage will culminate in the boat’s use as a fully functional watercraft on the St. Lawrence River during St-Jean–Port-Joli’s annual festival of sea chanteys in August.
