Théâtre-Forum
Saturday November 24 from 1 to 3 PM
Conference November, Sunday 25 at 4 PM

Théâtre-Forum: a public debate held in a spirit of recognition. Chaired by Sonia Hamel, doctorand researcher.

Let us put ourselves in the Other’s shoes through theatre.
Let us defend our point of view by putting it up on stage.
Let us explore the possibilities for cohabitation and sharing of the public space marked by mutual recognition.

Who knows... perhaps we may be able to collectively redefine the issue of homelessness and the unsettling malaise that accompanies it.
We shall expect you in large numbers for the État d’Urgence’s public forum.
Sonia Hamel, doctorand researcher at the Université de Montréal, supported by the Fonds québécois de recherche sur la Société et la Culture (FQRSC), wants to create a space for public deliberations whose medium of communication is the théâtre-forum, or social theatre, in close collaboration with the Mise au jeu interactive theatre troupe. Her thesis, titled “Le théâtre-forum : vers une délibération dialogique sous le signe de la reconnaissance”, explores the social tensions underlying the cohabitation downtown of street people and those living or working in the area.

A presentation/conference on Sonia Hamel’s work in progress will take place Sunday, November 25 at 4 P.M.
