Come dance to Marie Chouinard
with La 2e Porte à Gauche ! 4
Marie Chouinard
Created in France by Michel Reilhac, Bal Moderne is a festive event during which the public is invited to interpret short choreographies created by contemporary choreographers.
Since 2004, Bal Moderne, a production of Québec’s La 2e Porte à Gauche, has introduced the general public to the worlds of more than 30 Québec choreographers. For its 15th edition, La 2e Porte à gauche is proud to present an extract from Orphée et Eurydice, a work by choreographer Marie Chouinard. As part of État d’Urgence, Bal Moderne is open to all, especially to those who think they can’t dance!
A special thanks to dancer, teacher and coach Isabelle Poirier from the Compagnie Marie Chouinard! Marie Chouinard founded the Compagnie Marie Chouinard in 1990. It has since presented 1,000 shows throughout the world.

Corps anonymes,
O.D.N.I. (Objets Dansants Non Identifiés) 0
A series of “anonymous” bodies discreetly invades the public space, reversing the flow of the mass by forming a crowd moving against the surge. Standing still amidst the unceasing tide of the city, mingling with other anonymous bodies. Making a stand against the indifference of the mass. Posing an act of resistance in the face of the citizenry’s motion. Emphasizing what usually does not attract our attention, what we avoid seeing or what we no longer look at, every day in the street.
Dancers: Irène Galesso, Élise Hardy, Catherine Larocque, Paule Mackrous, Léna Massiani, Katya Montaignac, Anouk Thériault, Mary Williamson
With the participation of freshman students from LADMMI, L'école de danse contemporaine.

OTHERS (excerpt)
by Évolucidanse 4
Évolucidanse, a contemporary dance company, was founded in 2007 by Geneviève Bolla and Émilie Gratton, both alumnae of the Jeune Ballet du Québec and the École Supérieure de Ballet Contemporain. OTHERS, a choreography by Geneviève Bolla, is the company’s third work and the culmination of a collaboration with Québec filmmaker Francois Miron. État d’Urgence’s mission dovetails perfectly with Évolucidanse’s artistic vision: ATSA bridges the gap between art and street people, while Évolucidanse creates gritty, humanistic works that touch everyone.
