We’re putting on an opening show, and oh what a show! Featuring the heavenly voice of soprano Marie-Josée Lord, slammer Mathieu Lippé, Damien Robitaille, Parlovr, the Jazzbin Band and lots of surprises! Need we say more! It’s an opening show, and a show about openness and love for our fellow man; it’s about improving our social hygiene and communication skills, all to the sound of big band/opera/punk music! Come if you want—we’ll certainly be there, trippin’!

Zébulon 2

After an 11-year absence from the musical scene, the four members of Zébulon (Marc Déry, Yves Déry, Yves Marchand and Alain Quirion) return with their third collection of songs, Retour sur mars. Of course, the four members have aged, but some things haven’t changed since their last go-around: men and women are still trying to figure one another out, and the band’s brand of rock music is as youthful as ever! Eternal teens at heart, today’s Zébulon is turned resolutely toward the future. A fleeting opportunity to once again party down with them before they disappear from the scene once more...

Nico Beki 2

Nov. 26, ÉU tent

Nico Beki sings of Brazil, the Brazil of fiesta and nostalgia, of its diversity of rhythms and people. Along with some famous musician friends from her new group, Forrótimoshe offers a repertoire tinged with the diverse contemporary sounds to be found in Brazil. Samba and bossa nova remain favourites, but make room for other genres such as baião, afoxé, reggae and samba-reggae. Nico has graced stages in São Paulo in Brazil, in Asylah in Morocco, in Santa-Maria in the Azores, at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, at Dawson City’s Yukon Folk Festival, at the AfricaBeat in Toronto’s Harbourfront, at the Festival d’Été de Québec, and several times at Montreal’s Jazz Festival.
An invitation to travel and to dance...

Geneviève et Matthieu 2

Artist-performer-musicians Geneviève et Matthieu work in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec. Since the late 90s, Geneviève, Bachelor of Visual Arts, and Matthieu, Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Creation, have been presenting interdisciplinary performances and installations, a deft, off-handed blend of fine arts, poetry, music and humour. They are also coordinators of Écart, an artists’ centre for avant-garde arts, and directors of Rouyn-Noranda’s Biennale d’art performatif. They are actively involved in their community. Their original approach gives their stage appearances a spontaneous, visually exciting feel.

Caïman Fu 2

Nov. 28, ÉU tent

Last autumn’s Drôle d’animal gave their fans a one-two party punch thanks to its straightforward rock attack. Singer-actress Isabelle Blais and her cohorts promise a colourful show that will turn a playful yet lucid eye on the “strange animal” that we are.

Bon Débarras 2

Nov. 29, ÉU tent

Musical trio Bon Débarras hits Montreal with its arsenal of guitars, banjo, accordeon, percussion, harmonica, vocals, foot-tapping and washboard! Its three members—Dominic Desrochers, Luzio Altobelli and Jean-François Dumas—are inspired by diverse musical currents, including cajun, gypsy, folk and traditional. These influences cross well over boundaries of time and space and this diversity of styles is served well by the panoply of instruments, sophisticated arrangements, and the daring use of polyrhythms. Hot rhythms with energy to spare!
