de l’Urgence - exhibition by Martin Savoie
Official photographer of État d’Urgence since its very inception, Martin can vividly recollect the faces of the event’s past editions and the high and low points through the years. He presents an exhibition of some 20 colour and black-and-white photos taken at État d’Urgence since 2000. These have been chosen for their emotional content and communicate Martin’s deep love of people and places.

Conference by Gaétan Héroux
Organizer of the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) and documentary filmmaker Gaétan Héroux presents a conference on the phenomenon and roots of urban homelessness. It is an opportunity to follow the history of poverty in Toronto’s East Side, and of the creation of shelters, including the Meurling shelter, Montreal’s first facility for the homeless. Beyond its retrospective, archival function (made possible by numerous era photographs), the conference ties in to the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Héroux’s film Des maux à l’action will also be screened, at the NFB and on-site at État d’Urgence.
