Gaétan Héroux 15
At Bibliothèque Nationale (BANQ) - 475 De Maisonneuve Blvd. E.
Friday, Nov. 28 at 12:30 PM – free admission
Organizer of the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) and documentary filmmaker Gaétan Héroux presents a conference on the phenomenon and roots of urban homelessness. It is an opportunity to follow the history of poverty in Toronto’s East Side, and of the creation of shelters, including the Meurling shelter, Montreal’s first facility for the homeless. Beyond its retrospective, archival function (made possible by numerous era photographs), the conference ties in to the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Héroux’s film Des maux à l’action will also be screened, at the NFB and on-site at État d’Urgence.

Hugo Latulippe and Alain Auger,
Nous allons continuer de mettre le feu
1
Friday, Nov. 28 at 4:00 PM
Hugo Latulippe is an author and filmmaker; Alain Auger is a composer and guitarist. Longtime friends, they share a belief in art as a positive force in the struggle for justice and survival. Whether on tour or on set, they constantly jot down notes, words, and melodies. Occasionally, their paths cross under a tent, where they compare notes and get up to speed. Free improv with two mics. “There will be more fire!”
